Fussy Farms, founded by Chris and Amanda, has been serving DFW and surrounding areas since 2023.
Chris grew up on a homestead in East Texas, and have a deep rooted passion for farming and animal care. Being surrounded by the sights and sounds of a dairy farm growing up, he developed an innate understanding of the intricacies of agriculture and animal husbandry from a young age. Chris has experience with a wide range of animals, including chickens, turkeys, guineas, cattle, goats, sheep, farm dogs and cats.
Their journey into professional sheep shearing began with 2 sheep given as a wedding present to a family friend. Turns out the sheep weren't allowed inside city limits leading them down the path to Chris's family homestead in 2021.
When Chris had a couple years of shearing under his belt, he pursued a certification from the American Sheep Industry (ASI) to hone in his skills and ensure the highest standards of care for every sheep, every time in 2023.
Unlike her husband, Amanda's journey into the world of farming and animal care began in suburbia. Despite the concrete jungle that surrounded her, she always harbored a deep love for animals and a yearning for a connection to the natural world.
Her passion for farming and animal husbandry led her to pursue opportunities to learn and grow, even in the midst of urban life. One such opportunity arose when she took a small ruminant husbandry class lead by Dr. D at Shepard's Cross. Though it was just a small step, it depended her appreciation for the care and welfare of animals, particularly sheep.
Beyond the shears, they have both taken pride in fostering strong connections within the farming community. Whether its sharing insights, lending a helping hand, or simply swapping stories over a cup of coffee, Chris and Amanda cherish the bonds forged through a shared love for the land and its inhabitants. With the extensive network of support and knowledge built up, these two are excited to serve you and help nurture the beauty of rural life.
